Another blast from the past, and arguably the oldest Oldhammer model I’ve got in my active army. This is a model that’s been through some real stuff. Following a vacation fiasco and being shipped by Canada Post, Big Sister was in hard shape, even with all the work I’d already put into her. Instead of just gluing her back together I took the approach of paint-stripping the model and doing a complete rebuild, with some new details and bits added on just because I could.

There were two big things I wanted to change with this build of Big Sister – first, I wanted to make sure that she had a Ghostglaive. My “headcanon” or lore for this character was always that she was a former Howling Banshee, because I have picked a lane and it’s Banshees, but the old Wraithlord sculpt didn’t have a melee weapon other than fisticuffs. I took a somewhat lazy but hopefully not too garish option, and just basically magnetized a plastic Wraithlord Ghostglaive, hand and all, and magnetized it to the wrist. If anything I think adding the third hand gives it an eerie, alien look while also keeping Aeldari elegance and aesthetics intact.

The second thing I decided I was definitely changing was giving her a tactical rock that any Space Marine Lieutnenant or Captain would envy. The old Micro Art Studio base that I used was fancy but didn’t quite fit the aesthetics of the rest of my army, so I switched it out with some rocks out of the driveway over a 65mm blank. Part of that is that I wanted to keep the visual focus on the model and her big-ass sword, and I felt like the old base just made it all look too cluttered.

In true Wraithlord fashion, she lives again, and I’m very happy with the end result. She has some new guns to play with, a very sturdy bottom-heavy base, and she has a sword now, so I think she’s doing pretty good for herself. Feels good to have her back in my army and back in one piece.

Great work getting her back together Mick, and nice options available. I think the sword would have been better mounted underneath the fist, but that’s a personal point of view, and if you’re happy that’s what counts.

Thanks! And yeah, I probably could have mounted it there and I think that would have looked great too, solid idea though. (I’m just a very lazy creature sometimes.)
