“Hold your fire, there’s no life forms.” – Escape Pod Expansion (again!)

The keen-eyed will remember that this isn’t my first rodeo with this particular kit, or with accompanying Jawas. The first crack I took at this was a speedpaint that I did as part of a larger lot for my parents as a Christmas gift, with the Jawa going to my sibling, and as happy as I was at the time with the result I always kind of wanted to come back to this kit, especially since me and kinpatsusamurai could definitely use the terrain and the rules for our Rebels and Imperials to throw hands at each other.

I managed to pick up a second copy of the kit on a visit to Noble Miniatures, after the last Legion game in fact, and while I did my usual speedpaint thing with the hull of the escape pod, the windows, and the terrain, I tried to put just a little more work this time into the droids and the jawas. In particular, since R2-D2 is such a tabletop staple, I wanted to try and make him ‘pop’ just a little more on the tabletop than the 3D printed version that I’d been using up to this point, which was a challenge because the FFG kit is a slightly smaller scale.

Pictured: The last of the old and the first of the new. Totally not a Legends reference there.

I’m definitely happy with the results, and happy with the R2-D2. I’m hoping to get more games of Legion in soon so that I can try and run this group on the tabletop – and to see if maybe I can scrape a win together with R2’s fun, gimmicky rules. 3PO didn’t turn out half bad either!
