Here’s a couple from the Demonweb set that I had fun recreating, and both of them ended up getting to throw around some weight plot-wise in the campaign that I ran with @brittneystucklessart. First is the Spiretop Drake, who in-campaign was in fact a baby Black Dragon, part of a clutch that had been stolen away from its father after their mother had been slain by the local Lord-Regent and their forces. While the Monster Manual suggests Black Dragons start life glossy and black, I liked the idea of one of the dragons in the clutch being a weird little “albino” dragon and so that’s how I translated this one into its plot-relevant role.

Another NPC character, and a helper character in the campaign, was a halfling named Anvorn who was part of a local non-human resistance movement. In our world, the humans had largely colonized northern territories and had placed “abhuman” races like halflings, dwarves, and ogres into either localized ghettoes or had shunned them from their civilizations entirely. (There was nary an elf in sight, which for me was a pretty radical concept.) Anvorn was a rogue/ranger who had a climbing kit and an empty stomach who was going to make both of those things everybody else’s problem. They were an NPC I wish I’d had the chance to develop a little more before we reached the story’s endgame, but I’m glad they at least got development in painted form.

This rounds out the first “batch” of my Demonweb revival miniatures and I think we’re off to a great start. I think with the next batch I might try things that were more iconically Demonweb including some spidery-types, demons and devils, but that might be a little ways out while I juggle IRL responsibilities for a while. The miniatures I’ve added to the collection so far are also based on the more Uncommon or Rare pieces from the set and I’d like to try and represent some of the Commons, since Demonweb had a pretty good assortment for those, too. Hopefully there will be more of these to come, and after the Aeldari army I completed through the first part of the year these will be a nice change of pace.
