Cassandra Nova and…wait, that’s not Jean Grey –

The keen-eyed might recall that when I picked up Jean Grey and Cassandra Nova’s expansion for Marvel Crisis Protocol, Cassandra Nova didn’t originally get a whole lot of fanfare. Since then, I wanted to try and get my hands on another version of the character – even though I’m not Cassandra Nova’s biggest fan I thought it would be just another option that I could add to my MCP rosters and toolkit, so to speak, but that left the question of what to do if I got a hold of the Jean Grey half of the expansion again. Well, after poking through proxy models I decided turnabout was fair play, and this time Jean Grey is getting switched out.

The sculpts on this were models I picked up from PhalanxPrintingUK who do fantastic MCP stuff, as well as from plenty of other miniature ranges. I’ve bought from them before and the quality of their work is still fantastic, and the sculpts were just gorgeous. Goblin Queen looked like something out of an old Conan comic and I just leaned into it, and used this as an opportunity to play with gradients for skin tones, both for her and the not-Nurgling she came with. The Cassandra Nova sculpt was a little more normal, but I used this as a chance to play around with colors too – I wanted to see if I could get the tan on her jacket down without making it too much like the brown of the boots, and without defaulting to my usual Ulthwe bone colors.

This was a short, sweet build and I’m happy with how they turned out. The basing, the color selections, and a lot of other things with these just came together in a really nice, serendipitous kind of way. It was a nice chance to experiment with color combinations I don’t usually play with, and I’m happy with the end result. Looking forward to running these on the tabletop and giving my “Madelyne Pryor did nothing wrong” rant to anyone in earshot.
