“Strike swiftly and true!” – Spiritseer and Wraithguard!

Well, I’m starting to dip my toes into playing 10th edition, and one thing is abundantly clear: Wraithguard are the big “hotness” in the Aeldari index right now, and definitely something I’m going to be bringing at least a squad of to the tabletop for the foreseeable future, especially paired with a “jazz hands” Spiritseer. I’ve always missed the Bonesinger flavor of being able to mend or regenerate Wraith constructs, and even if the Bonesinger is still resigned to Legends, this is a play that lets me scratch that itch a little with some equally venerable sculpts.

I’ve already got one Spiritseer tabletop ready, but I wanted to have a second that I could pair with a second squad of Wraithguard or with a Wraithlord. To that effect, I went back and paint-stripped an old resin Spiritseer and decided to give it a redo, and also took on a couple of paint-stripped rescued pewter Wraithguard. One of these days I’ll pick up the more impressive-looking plastic ones, but the goofy-looking lanky metal dudes are just a weak point of mine as a painter and as an Eldar collector.

Pictured: “Well, one of us is going to have to go home and change.”

Not much with these that I did differently from my last batch of Wraithguard, other than that this time I tried to work in some bits that I had in the ol’ bits box. I figured putting some shields on them meant that if I was in a crunch I could use them as proxy Serpent Scale platforms for Storm Guardians, as if I don’t already have a whole slew of those. I’m also trying to work a little more blood into the basing of my army, like what’s on my Wave Serpent, so this was a fun little tiptoe into that as well.

Oh man, do they ever have a lot of spirit stones lol. I’ve thought about painting a set of the plastic ones, but if there’s a lot of stones on the old pewter ones I can only imagine how tedious the new ones have gotta be, lol.
