God, this feels great. I have wanted to make this particular Reiver squad as a Kill Team for actual years and I feel like I stuck the landing. I’ve also learned that Posca markers are magical, and they’ve changed the way that I’m going to do freehanding fine details on a lot of future models. Credit for XenonMage for giving me the idea to play with those. These were mostly a rescue project I made out of some Reivers I got second hand, but I also wanted to have a little bit of fun with the excessive number of skulls in the Citadel Skulls box and make them look a little more imposing.

I went with the scheme I’d played with on the corrupted Blood Raven captain and the Phobos Lieutenant I painted recently, starting with sponging and then moving on to a little bit of edge highlighting to get the reds to pop nicely before moving into the bone colors, metallics, and everything else. It seems to be a pretty good system and I’m looking forward to seeing how it translates down the road onto a larger model like maybe a Dreadnought or a Repulsor for terrain or flavor purposes. I don’t see this necessarily turning into a full-fledged army, but I want these guys to have at least some toys to play with.

I’ve got big plans for these guys. They’re more lore characters from the campaign between myself and XenonMage so they’re a nice touchstone to the story that we’ve built together so far, but they’re also likely going to stand in as a squad for the Snarling Badger game Majestic 13, once me and Kinpatsusamurai have a chance to do some prep and get that off the ground. My hyper-fixation on Dawn of War continues.

Great work Mick, wouldn’t have known they were rescue models, other than you mentioning it.

Thanks! Much appreciated. It’s something I’ve been trying to lean into more recently, if for no reason other than to save a few hobby dollars lol.
