This website started with a few good Eldar models, and 100-ish posts in, I see no sign that that will change anytime soon. In a way, though, I want to try and breathe a little more life into them and into some of my other projects in a creative sense. First, though, along with the recent Guardian Defenders I posted, I wanted to do an accompanying character model as practice to make sure I’m a little more back up on my game before pushing into anything too weird or experimental from here.

Ry’hil as a character is storied on this blog – I started by painting him as a Bonesinger, then as a Farseer, then as a Bonesinger again, and now I’ve got him right back to being a Farseer with all of the trappings. This is also one of the few recent cases where I’ve just tried to paint an HQ model right out of the box, without much in the way of added kitbashing or embellishment. I’ve actually painted and kitbashed this same sculpt into a Spiritseer before, but wanted to do this one more “normal” just to check it off of the bucket list of Eldar projects I’d done.

I followed what’s largely my character paint scheme for Eldar, but did the coat in a black color like the Ulthwe armour of the rest of the army. In part this was because it let me be a little lazy with painting, but also because it matches the original metal Farseer that I painted for Ry’hil a couple years back, allowing for a bit of a visual upgrade to that model. This one’s going in the Warhammer case for “away” games – as much as I love my metal models, the old Farseer is pretty weighty and there’s been a couple near-misses where I was worried there’d be paint chips or that I’d have to do a repaint of him anyways. Happy with the results, and looking forward to doing more elves soon!

Great work on the Seer Mick, and fits in well with the previous edition and other characters.
