Felthius’ B-Team – Blightlord Terminator Reinforcements

One good batch of Blightlord Terminators deserves another – and these have been sitting on my bench forever. I got these at a bargain ages ago and paint-stripped them, intended to repaint them so that I could field a squad of Blightlord Terminators. For the longest time it didn’t pan out, and I decided to correct that oversight so that I could field Felthius and his lads again. These were nicely assembled by the previous owner and required minimal work to get up to speed, other than adding basing and skulls and such.

Like the Tainted Cohort, I tackled these with stippling, sponges, and the base-layer-highlight formula and a generous helping of Nihilakh Oxide, which is still one of my favorite technical paints of all time. As much as I’ve raved about the Tainted Cohort sculpts and how much character they show, there’s still a lot of personality in each of these three and the regular Blightlord Terminator sculpts I found to be a lot more forgiving to paint than the Cohort was. My only complaint is that they need more Nurgling, but…the squad leader of the group has his own creative solution to that problem.

Pictured: “Where’s Waldo,” but with Nurglings.

This puts me in the unique position that I have no Death Guard models left to paint – like, at all. I’ve been slowing down a little on the 40K front because of storage space and other IRL limitations, but this is the first time in years that I haven’t had something Death Guard on my pile of shame and it feels weird. Really, the only things I haven’t tried to tackle from their line so far are Poxwalkers and Mortarion – maybe that will happen down the road? Mortarion might still be a little out of my league but I might have to pick up a few dozen zombie infantry, that could be fun. Maybe I’ll lean a little more into Chaos Daemons and Nurgle instead of the whole Death Guard angle – it’s gonna be a challenge finding Nurgling kits en masse in stock anywhere, but I didn’t get to where I am today by being a quitter, and there’s not a lot I wouldn’t do for more Nurglings.

One last sidenote – recently went back to work after a summer laid off, so I’ll probably have less time for painting and posting, but I have some fun stuff planned and hope to be back in a somewhat timely fashion. See you on the other side!

Excellent work on your terminators, they fit in really well with the rest of your army.

It is a strange feeling when you have finished all the models you have for an army, and then we do something crazy like buy more models ! LOL
