Here’s another one of the miniatures I got at the Noble Miniatures clearance sale (RIP) and it’s the one that I think is the standout piece from the lot. It’s a shame that it ended up being the older box that didn’t include the Falcon bits, but I don’t intend to really run this as a Falcon anyways – I have a hard enough time remembering rules and limitations and the less datasheets I have to juggle, the better. My Howling Banshees must always have a party bus, and so here is the designated party bus for 10th Edition and for my Genestealer Cult-esque Aeldari.

As always, I can’t say enough good things about the lights and battery packs from Evan Designs. I hope trade relations eventually stabilize between us and our neighbours to the south (and that a certain dictator-in-chief will stop making threats to my country’s sovereignty,) so that I can pick up a bunch more in good conscience, but until then I’m going to keep using the back stock that I have from them to the best effect that I can. I used a rocky battery pack cover that I picked up from the dollar store to disguise some of the guts, and soldered the rest in place inside of the tank. The light in the cockpit is actually just white – I used layers of the neon paint from Green Stuff World to achieve the cockpit effect and am very happy with the result..

The lights layout follows the recipe I’ve been running with since I started doing LED grav tanks: A couple flicker lights in the main engines, two light bulbs each for maneuvering thrusters, and two little bulbs in the cockpit. This one was a bit of a struggle to paint, since usually with tanks and larger pieces I take sponge or drybrush shortcuts, and the nature of painting white using the method that I am right now meant that I largely couldn’t go that route. In some places I left the wash or shading visible to highlight specific raised areas or details, but the rest was just an exercise in patience.
Last but not least, I have to give credit to Studio Skull for the fantastic resin bases they do – I put a couple of these on the D-Cannon Platforms and used one of their larger ones for the Wave Serpent, and the detail on these is immaculate. Hobby dollars are going to be tight for a while, and this is likely going to be my last ‘big’ build like this for a while where I get to go all-in, and I think this is a good note to pause on. I do have some mid-sized rescue and other projects, though, that I think are still going to be some fun pieces to add to this army – more on that to come!
