Posts are going to be a little sparse heading into the next couple months, which is kind of a shame because I felt like I kept a more consistent schedule on posting this year – but life is like that sometimes. Between a surprise family visit, my rotating display dying, and starting a new job next week, I’m probably going to have my hands too full for a while to do a whole lot of painting or to put a lot of time into the site here or my social media stuff. Wanted to make sure I shared this one before stuff started to slow down in earnest, though.

The A-Wing has always been one of my favorite ships in the Star Wars franchise. Most of that is for nostalgia reasons – I loved the Rogue Squadron games as a kid as well as the X-Wing Alliance game, and as a kid I fondly remember me and my brother playing with Star Wars figures and swooshing our ships around, an A-Wing included that my parents got me for Christmas one year. They were a ship introduced in Return of the Jedi as a nimble, fast, fighter-interceptor glass cannon and something about the ship won me over, especially over time as I got older.

This one was a straightforward build of the old kit from the 80’s, but I cut up the interior a little to accommodate LEDs, because of course I did, and I let myself have a little fun with this as a speedpaint and a more casual build. Sponging continues to deliver on grungy-looking Rebel Alliance kits. Because I had some Rebel characters kicking around I did them all together in a batch, and I’m pretty thrilled with how they turned out too. Particularly happy with how R5-D4 turned out!

These didn’t take a ton of time to do, and I think I’ve got painting Rebels down to a nice science now. It was cool to see how characters from the old Fantasy Flight Star Wars: Imperial Assault series and RPG game were reimagined as part of this kit, too. Legion is a game I’m probably not going to add a whole lot more to army-wise, largely because of storage space constraints, but I’d love to eventually do another one of these A-Wings and maybe experiment with some of the new models that are after coming out in the next while. If wishes were horses…

Great work on your A-Wing and rebels Mick, hope the life changes are all good, and that you get back into the swing of things soon.
