Remember when this army was done? I had some straggler models in my drawers that I wanted to clear for this project but I also realized I had a bit of a blind spot in the design ethos of this army, and so I wanted to clear that up. (By purchasing a whole extra new model of course!) I followed largely the same paint scheme for these that I did with the last batch of Rangers that I added to this army, and the same basing scheme to boot. The shifting color paints from Vallejo really put work in on the cloaks, as they always do.

What I added to this Ranger squad, though, satisfying both my want for more flavor in the army but also to add another Little Dude ™, is a Sanctus and a little Genestealer familiar acting as his spotter. I kept the model pretty much stock for this one, which I suppose makes this the one model in my army I could interchangeably use in a Genestealer Cults army. I’m aiming just to use him as a Ranger proxy, but I think visually he adds a lot to the squad of outcasts, and fills a blind spot in the Path of the Outcast that I was missing with respect to this army.

I followed my regular Ranger paint scheme again for the Sanctus, and followed the Genestealer color scheme that I’ve used in the past for some of my own familiars and primarily for BrittneyStucklessArt’s Tyranids, complete with the glossy royal blue carapace. I like that he gets special goggles, I think that’s a nice touch. The model’s base is a little on the big size for Rangers but the metal ones are all a little small so I think ultimately it balances out. Scale-creep strikes again.

Very happy with how this batch turned out – the Rangers themselves have been kicking around the drawers for a while and I’m glad to finally have a use for them. The Sanctus also turned out great. Will this army ever be 100% done? With the benefit of hindsight, probably not, but it’s been a very fun project and I keep finding room in my carry case for things. Speaking of which, looking forward to the next few additions, as I get through my Christmas haul but also as I take another terrain break…

Excellent work on the latest Rangers unit Mick, and great that you can get multiple uses out of the models.

Thanks! And yeah, agreed. The more things I can use my weird little dudes for, the better lol.
