Grand Theft AT-RT

This’ll be my last “Endor”-themed build and the last of my builds from the Legion starter set – don’t worry, I have something special and different planned for Luke. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of how these turned out, though since taking these pictures I have gone up and touched them up a little to make them look a little more tabletop-worthy. I got a hold of a second AT-RT and some Jawas (who definitely don’t fit in on Endor, but I just wanted to throw them in there), courtesy of Kinpatsusamurai. At some point I actually have a whole squad of the little dudes to paint up and these served as the test models for them. But I digress.

I think I speed-painted these to their detriment, while also batch-painting them to their detriment. The walkers themselves followed the same kind of rusted metal speed-scheme I often use with old terrain and with my Death Guard’s more metallic bits, including the gratuitous orange and rust colors. I think on its own that could have worked, but…something about that, once I added all the basing and did batch-painting for the pilots, just feels like it didn’t quite work out, but…all the same, I’m not sure how I’d go about fixing these.

Pictured: A closer look at the Jawas. The varnish didn’t treat these great.

At the end of the day, though, they’re out of the shame pile – and maybe that’s the important thing. They’re two perfectly useable AT-RTs for tabletop casual games, and now I can move on to some of the wilder stuff that I have planned for my Rebel scum. I still migth go back and revisit these at some point, but calling them done for now and letting myself progress to the stuff that I’m more excited about.

These look cool Mick, and like the addition of the Jawas on the base, as we now know they are not just on Tatooine, I think the only thing that would have been more fitting for an Endor base would be an Ewok, but that’s just splitting hairs ! LOL

Ewoks were definitely an option. My friend gave me a bunch of 3D printed Jawas, though, so it just kind of played out this way, lol. Probably going to make a whole squad of the little dudes at some point.
