Farseer Caen’thala on Skyrunner Jetbike

There are some HQs, squad leaders, random miniatures, or characters in general that I’ve definitely gotten attached to since getting back into painting miniatures. One such character is the Ranger-turned-Seer Caen’thala, who has been one of my mainstay HQ units in a few different capacities – Warlock, Spiritseer, Farseer, or whatever else the game in question required. That said, she hadn’t had a great run of it, and I can’t think of a game I’ve played with her where she’s survived to the end. I’m hoping to do something about that.

Since I’ve been leading more into using Shroud Runners, I thought having a jetbike HQ would be useful and since Shroud Runners include so many extra Ranger bits this was just the natural character for the job. The build was pretty straightforward, especially after doing so much with the larger Shroud Runners, though I found the detail on the Farseer sculpt itself a little underwhelming compared to the footslogging version. I kitbashed on some Ranger bits and a Ghosthelm of Alishazier relic to help with that, and I’m happy with the end result.

Between this, Eldrad, and a couple old Warlocks and Spiritseers, I think I can safely say I’m not going to need to add any more psykers anytime soon! And this model fits in pretty decently with the two more recent HQs. There’s a couple things I might fix in the future on her, and as usual varnish is the thing I always trip over on the finish line. In addition to revisiting what I use for my lightbox I think revisiting how I varnish is going to be a big point of hobby improvement that I’ll try for over the next year.
