“We Have Mastered the Art of Destruction” – Totally Not Fire Dragons ™

We all know I like a good proxy model. Dire Avengers and Howling Banshees have had pretty good luck in plastic sculpts, but Fire Dragons are still either metal, finecast, or bust. Kinpatsusamurai got me a squad leader from this set for my birthday and naturally I decided to invest in a whole squad to go with them, and…now I have Fire Dragons that almost outshine a bunch of my other more regular Eldar stuff. Artel W did a phenomenal job on the mold.

I painted these up in basically the same Fire Dragon scheme I used last time, with the same blue gems and green tabard to keep these consistent with the rest of my army. The bases are some old Kromlech ones I’ve held onto for a hot minute, and it’s a shame these are so hard to find in Canada because they’re brilliant, and I’d pick up another couple packs in a heartbeat. These came together nicely and I still can’t get over what a winning combo Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow are, or at least I find them to be.

I’m super happy in the end with how these came together, and I’m glad to have another squad out of my shame pile. I feel like I’ve been making solid progress on that this year. I’m hoping to get a couple more Eldar and Death Guard projects as the year goes on, though I might start to slow things down to work on my Masters’ article. Life is affording me a little breathing room right now and I gotta strike while the iron is hot – which I guess is a Fire Dragon sentiment if ever there was one.
